There are people in our lives who contribute so much to daily life that they may be considered ?influential.?
They create an energy that has an impact on everything we say and everything we do?We see and hear of folks who often thank their Mom?s whenever they have an achievement that seems out of the ordinary. For most of us, the relationship with our Mom is indeed powerful.
I was raised with a ?you can do anything? attitude.
My Mom was forever encouraging me to not only to think outside the box but be creative, take a risk and make a difference in the world. Like most women of a certain age she was raised at a time when things were very different and yet they had a perseverance and resilience that was often passed along to their daughters and sons. They were determined to see both social and political change for the future.
My Mom was born before her time; she was open minded, courageous and liberal?I was raised by a woman who possesses an energy that is both soft yet purposeful. She is a no nonsense kind of gal?
She is indeed influential not only in my life but for my brother. What we learn in our homes is? impactful when we go out into the world and begin to make our own contributions to society.
They introduce us to the concept of mentorship and share with us not only their experience but ideas and notions for the future. Our Dad?s are not far behind and or some may be a force that is equal to or more powerful than Mom.
At some point in time, they pass the baton to us who then become mentors to the next generation of ?people? who shape and form our culture in both the present and future.
I do believe the most impactful relationships start with our families who create a platform for sharing ideas and experiences for the future.
At one time or another, we will all experience the role of both Mentor and Mentee and we are all influenced by that first and most important role model of ?Mother.?
On this International Women?s day may you celebrate the many women who have had an impact in your life and may you? become someone of influence on other in your own network.
