CONGRATULATIONS
Congratulations to each and every athlete competing in the Olympic games.
To be able to compete in a world class competition and provide your personal best
must be an amazing thrill.
I remember meeting Mark Tewksbury at a conference in Toronto. He told us about
his experience winning the 1992 Olympic Gold. As he shared his olympic story he
mentioned how instrumental it was to visualize success. At each practise
throughout that year, he would see himself standing on the podium receiving the
gold metal.
When he arrived in Barcelona, he went straight to the pool . There was actually a
very comical story about how he was able to get into the pool so early in the
morning; but none the less once he completed a quick lap he stood and visualized
himself receiving the gold metal. Just as he had all year at practise. He could see
the crowd waving and actually hear our national anthem. The experience had
become so real that it gave him the courage to excel at the games and bring home
the gold. A truly amazing experience!
Although many of us will never become a world class athlete, I?d like to think that
each and every day we have the chance to be our personal best!
A special thanks to all the athletes who provide us with inspiration.
